Denim & Diamonds event has been cancelled
AMHERST, N.S. – The Cumberland Health Care Foundation will not hold its gala fundraiser this year. “Our health-care staff in Cumberland mean the world to us, and right now they are busy getting ready for the possible emergence of the Coronavirus,” foundation managing director Gwen Kerr said. “It may come, or it may not, but we recognize that it’s our role to support them in all they do.” Because they are a big part of the foundation gala, as volunteers, donors, and attendees, the decision was made to cancel this year’s Denim & Diamonds event to let them carry on with the important work they are doing. Instead of hosting the gala, the foundation will hold a raffle and online auction to still fundraise to support physician recruitment and retention efforts in Cumberland County. “Now, more than ever, we see the need to have a full complement of health-care professionals in our community and we are determined to do all we can to support the efforts of the recruiters and retention committee,” Kerr said. “We hope you’ll help us by donating, purchasing raffle tickets and/or items online, and by sharing our messages. We’d very truly appreciate your support.” Kerr is suggesting people watch for details in the coming weeks on the foundation’s Facebook page.
