Lutheran Church celebrates milestone

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church celebrates 250 years as a congregation this year, making it the oldest still active Lutheran congregation in Canada. Special projects, services and activities are planned to celebrate the anniversary year.

Construction of a prayer labyrinth in the church garden is one of the special projects. A small ground-breaking ceremony was recently held following the weekly church service. Construction

will start right away. The labyrinth is a simple, brick pathway through the garden area which symbolizes one's spiritual journey inward to examine one's life and the return spiritual journey to engage the world.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Sunday, May 29 upon completion of the project. The Zion Church Garden has always been open for all to enjoy and Zion hopes this improvement will make it a favourite and peaceful outdoor space in Lunenburg.
