Efficiency N.S. seeking feedback

CONTRIBUTED

Efficiency Nova Scotia is asking residents for help in developing its three-year energy efficiency plan with an eye on higher electricity savings targets for residents.

In a recent news release, Efficiencyone, the administrator for Efficiency Nova Scotia, said it will file feedback on its next three-year plan to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board in late February 2022.

Efficiencyone spokesperson Janet Tobin said a lot has changed since the company filed its last plan.

“It’s clear that we need to act urgently to address the climate crisis, but at the same time, many Nova Scotians are worried about rising costs and the ongoing impacts of COVID-19,” she said.

The provincial government created Efficiency Nova Scotia to help residents improve energy use, including helping the province in hitting its target of 80 per cent renewable electricity by 2030.

The 2023-25 electricity efficiency plan will need to set significantly higher saving targets to meet the goal and make electricity more affordable, said Efficienyone officials.

“It’s important that we hear from many different Nova Scotians in designing our next three-year plan,” said Tobin.

“A successful path forward includes designing programs from which everyone can equitably benefit.”

An online survey will be conducted by Narrative Research through e-mail, social media and the Efficiency Nova Scotia’s website to gather resident feedback on the plan.
