South Shore pickleballers earn medals



The South Shore Pickleball Club was selected by Pickleball Canada to host the 2021 Pickleball Canada Atlantic Regional Championship last month. The unfortunate lack of local facilities suitable for such an event resulted in Truro’s Cougar Dome being chosen as the venue while the South Shore club organized and ran the tournament. There were more than 300 pickleball players from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland participating in the largest pickleball tournament in the history of Atlantic Canada which included more than 900 games on 17 courts. Medallists from the South Shore Pickleball Club included men’s singles/silver, Wayne Uhlman; bronze, Pierre G Lesperance. Skill (3.0 and under) age: (65+) , men’s doubles bronze - Jerome Tanner Skill: (3.0 and under) age: (65+), men’s doubles gold Jared Uhlman. Skill: (3.5 and above) age: (18-49), women’s doubles gold - Candice Ernst. Skill: (3.5 and above) age: (1849) , women’s doubles silver - Bev Cook and Charlotte Selig. Skill: (3.5 and above) age: (50-59), mixed doubles silver - Melissa Ritcey. Skill: (3.0 and Under) age (18-49), mixed doubles silver - George and Peggy Boudreau. Skill: (3.0 and under ) age (60-64), mixed doubles gold - Jared Uhlman and Candice Ernst. Skill: (3.5 and above) age (1849).
