Toastmasters hosting free open house

CONTRIBUTED THE SOUTH SHORE BREAKER

River Talkers Toastmasters is inviting area residents to its open house to meet members and learn more about how Toastmasters could help with building one’s confidence, communication, presentation and leadership skills.

“River Talkers Toastmasters provides a supportive, positive and fun environment where members get to practice and hone their skills on a regular basis, all the while developing new friendships,” says Donna Fancey.

Guests will enjoy a regular Toastmasters meeting that will include prepared speeches, Table Topics (impromptu speeches) and evaluations. Sherri Aulenback, club vice-president membership, who has served in various club positions, will be the table topics master.

“Table Topics are one of my favorite parts of the meeting,” says club president Michelle Snyder. “This is where guests and members are invited to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.”

For the prepared speeches, have a new member will be doing their ice breaker speech and an experienced member will be delivering a humorous speech.

The River Talkers Toastmasters open house will be held on online on Wednesday, June 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. using Zoom.

River Talkers Toastmasters meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m., currently online using Zoom. For more information about the open house, the club or for the link to join the meeting, contact
