Park to join Mounties next season

SACKVILLE, N.B. – The Mount Allison men’s basketball team will add a veteran point guard to its roster next season. Former Fredericton High School Black Kat standout Minwoo Park will be transferring from Dalhousie University this fall to suit up with the garnet and gold. During his two seasons with the Tigers, Park won two AUS championships and earned a U Sport silver medal. He is also a former two-time NBIAA champion with the Black Kats and a two-time NBIAA all-star with the Black Kats. Park, five-foot-10, also represented New Brunswick at four national championships from 2014 to 2017. “We are very excited with Minwoo’s decision to join our program next year,” said Mounties coach Steve Chapman. “Minwoo immediately adds another veteran presence and a winning attitude to our team this fall; he can immediately become an impact player within our program and in the ACAA. He comes to us with valuable U Sport and provincial experience, has played with many of our guys on BNB provincial teams, and he comes from a great high school program. Minwoo will really add depth to our present guard core, especially at the PG position. He has a passfirst mentality, has a very good basketball IQ, and he is an outstanding defender. Minwoo is proven, knows how to win, so we could not be any more excited than to add such a quality student athlete to our program moving forward.” Park will continue his studies in a bachelor of science program, pursuing post graduate studies in either medicine or dentistry upon graduation in 2022. The Mounties won this year’s ACAA men's basketball championship.
