PORT ELGIN, N.B. – The Village of Port Elgin continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and is following instructions given by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health for New Brunswick. In an effort to protect their employees, to continue to provide essential services to residents and to help reduce the spread of the virus, the following measures have been implemented and are based on the information currently available. – Access to the village office will be limited to the mayor, council and village employees only, and other authorized visitors will be restricted as much as possible. Residents can phone the village office during regular business hours at 506-538-2120 for assistance. – The fire station is closed to the public. EMO Port Elgin is available for emergencies during coronavirus isolation. The village has a list of people willing to assist those who are selfisolating and cannot get out to get groceries and other needed items. Anyone in need of assistance can phone Terry Murphy at 506-364-9319. Seniors in particular are at risk, so do not hesitate to call for help. – The rink building and area are now also closed to the public. Given the manner in which the COVID-19 pandemic is progressing, Port Elgin will look to provide further updates as needed.
