Two people facing DUI charges in separate incidents

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. ā€” Two people are facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from separate incidents over the weekend in Summerside. The first incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday when police received a report of an erratic driver in the St. Eleanor's area. Patrol officers found and stopped the suspect vehicle on Rebecca Drive. The 44 year-old driver from the Kings County area was arrested after police said the officers noticed he was showing signs of impairment. He later provided breath samples of more than twice the legal alcohol limit. The second incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when police received a call reporting that a vehicle nearly collided with oncoming traffic near Blue Shank Road. Police found the suspect vehicle on Ryan Street and conducted a traffic stop. The 58-year-old driver from the Kensington area didn't provide a breath sample and was arrested for refusal. Both drivers will appear in court at a later date to answer impaired driving-related charges.
