SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - For the second year in a row, Innovation P.E.I. will sponsor the Francophone Ignition contest with $25,000. In a Nov. 16 release, Innovation P.E.I. said the sponsorship will be invested into the winning entrepreneurial project in the Francophone Ignition Contest. The annual competition, launched in 2020, challenges Francophone or bilingual entrepreneurs to create a new business, launch a new product or service or expand an existing business. The funding will be invested in the entrepreneurial project that wins the contest on March 2, 2022. Applications are being accepted for the competition until Jan. 3, 2022. Following a weekend of training, a pre-selection round of the competition will be held. The final round will be staged before the public in Abram-Village in March. Economic Growth Minister Mattew Mackay said entrepreneurs play an important role in the Island’s economy. “To continue to move forward, we need to help Islanders start or grow their existing businesses. I look forward to seeing the competitors present their best ideas,” Mackay said.
