Some facts about the Summerside Area Baseball Association: Participants: The association has close to 330 players registered in its programming in 2021. Programming: Programs start at the blastball level, which features players aged four to six, and run through to 18-under. Fields: SABA utilizes eight fields throughout the Summerside area. Along with Queen Elizabeth Park’s Very Important Volunteer Field, Legends Field, Gordie Arsenault Field and the Hospital Field, Slemon Park A and B diamonds, along with fields at Greenfield Elementary School and the Lions Club host action. Quote: “Our goal is to grow the game,” said SABA president Tanner Doiron. “You want to grow your numbers, get more people involved, especially at the grassroots level. You want to develop baseball players and provide as many resources for our members to get to that next level if they want to. Some aspire to go to college or the junior or provincial programs on P.E.I. Our goal is to provide everything we can for members for that.”
