Kensington Police Services donate bicycles to students
KENSINGTON — Although the Kensington Police Services was unable to hold its annual bike rodeo this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, it didn’t stop the department from working with the community’s youth. Under the leadership of Chief Lewie Sutherland, Kensington Police Services collected donations for 38 bicycles and held a draw from each class at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School. Several names of students from each class were drawn during a school assembly, with the winners presented with a new bicycle. Chief Sutherland is hoping for a return to the traditional bike rodeo in 2022.
