TOSH brings home gold, silver
PEISAA senior AAA championships held at Bluefield
HAMPSHIRE — Three Oaks Senior High School brought home gold and silver medals from the P.E.I. School Athletic Association senior AAA rugby championships at Bluefield High School on Saturday.
Katie Acorn, a Grade 11 flanker, kicked three penalty kicks to lead the Axewomen to a 9-7 victory over the Bluefield Bobcats.
“Those penalty kicks that Katie made weren’t dead centre, they were from the side,” said Axewomen head coach Tim Hockin.
Three Oaks has now won seven of the last provincial championships.
BOYS
In the boys’ final, the Charlottetown Rural Raiders edged the Axemen 7-5.
It was the Raiders’ first provincial championship since 2010. Prior to that the Axemen had won four straight and eight of the last nine titles.
There were no provincial champions declared in 2020 due to COVID-19.
