Summerside woman to spend five days in jail for shoplifting

SUMMERSIDE — A 37-year-old Summerside woman was sentenced to five days in jail for shoplifting.

Joanne Leslie Doucette pleaded guilty in Summerside provincial court recently to theft.

Crown attorney Jeff MacDonald read the facts into the record.

On Oct. 25, 2020, at 5 p.m., Doucette was at Source for Sports in Summerside. Video surveillance saw her take a pair of pants and a package of socks and leave without paying.

Judge Krista MacKay sentenced Doucette to five days in jail and 24 months probation. She must also pay $125 in restitution for the pants and socks and another $100 in victim fine surcharges. She must also stay away from Source for Sports in Summerside.
