Police find stolen vehicle abandoned

SUMMERSIDE — Police recovered a stolen vehicle after the driver fled from officers on Friday.

In a June 7 news release, Summerside Police said officers were on patrol near north Central Street around 7:45 p.m. on June 4 when they witnessed a red Nissan Sentra speeding southbound.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver turned down Granville Street where officers stopped the pursuit for safety reasons.

Not long after, police received a call from the public reporting an abandoned red vehicle stuck in the bushes behind Granville Street

Plaza. Police determined it was the same vehicle that fled from pursuing officers.

The vehicle was reported stolen to the RCMP from the Howlan area around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Anyone with information regarding these investigations is asked to call the Summerside police at 902432-1201, RCMP at 902436-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
