Four people displaced by fire

MISCOUCHE — A Miscouche family of four is being aided by the Canadian Red Cross after being displaced from their home by a fire on Saturday.

Firefighters from Miscouche, Summerside, Wellington and Tyne Valley responded to the call at 96 Lady Slipper Dr. North around 2 p.m., Miscouche fire chief Jason Woodbury said in an interview.

“The structure’s east side was fully engulfed,” he said.

Two children and a pet were in the home during the time of the fire but Woodbury said all were able to escape without injury.

The Red Cross said in a news release on Sunday that the family is staying with relatives and has been helped by Red Cross volunteers with funding. The funding has helped the family with emergency purchases like food and clothing while they wait for additional support through insurers.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
