Lynx score 26 goals, fire 155 shots on goal in weekend sweep

SYDNEY - The Cape Breton Lynx poured on the offence in a two-game weekend sweep of the Fundy Kraken in Maritime Major Female Hockey League action at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.

Cape Breton blanked Fundy 12-0 on Sunday and outshot the visitors 88-4.

Samantha Morrison had three goals and an assist, while Olivia MacDonald had two goals and an assist and Skylar MacLean had a goal and four assists.

Erin Lawless, Kameryn Lahey, Clare Connors, Morgan O’Keefe, Mae MacEachern, and Maira Pino added goals for the Lynx (5-1-0-0).

Cape Breton’s Anna MacNeil stopped all four shots she faced. Fundy’s Alyson Blanchard turned aside 76 of 88 shots.

On Saturday, the Lynx dominated the Kraken (0-40-0) 14-0 and outshot them 67-4.

Lawless and MacLean had five-point performances. Lawless had three goals and two assists, while MacLean recorded two goals and three assists.

Morrison and Kennedy Vickers had two goals and four points apiece, and Lahey had two goals. Pino, Anna Lawand, and Jeneva Marshall each had a goal and two assists for the Lynx.

Cape Breton’s Meghan Muise stopped all four shots she faced. Fundy’s Clara Fields turned aside 29 of 38 shots before being replaced by Blanchard, who allowed five goals on 29 shots.
