Cougars fall to Storm, Bearcats in under-15 hockey

SYDNEY - The Joneljim Cougars dropped a pair of weekend Nova Scotia Under-15 Major Hockey League games.

The Cougars were defeated 6-2 by the Truro Bearcats at the East Hants Sportsplex on Sunday.

Ethan Fraser scored twice and added an assist, while Henry Thorne, Austin Hoyt, Elliott Mullen, and Chace Munden netted goals for the Bearcats (2-1-0-0).

Brody Ford and Cohen MacIsaac replied with goals for the Cougars (2-2-0-0).

Truro’s Sam Berthiaume made 34 saves. Cougars’ Daniel Levatte stopped 33 of 39 shots.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Cougars were downed 5-2 by the New Scotland Storm of Cole Harbour at Cole Harbour Place.

Aiden O’Donnell notched a hat trick, while Mack Clements and Owen O’Donnell each had a goal and an assist for the Storm (3-0-0-0).

Mitchell Gould and Charlie MacLeod replied with goals for the Cougars.

New Scotland’s Will Cole made 22 saves. Cougars’ Kayden Mollons was tagged with the loss, stopping 26 of 30 shots.
