SLADE, Gary

We the siblings of the Gary Slade, are deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of our beloved brother, Gary. He died at home in Burlington, Ontario., at the age of 80

years on Aug. 4, 2022. Gary was the eldest son of the late Bill and Angeline (Lawrence) Slade. He was raised in Sydney and always considered himself a Cape Bretoner. Gary was a very friendly, personable man and loved to joke around. He developed many close friendships in Cape Breton and always loved to reconnect with his friends on his yearly visits back home to Sydney. Gary was very mechanically inclined and could turn his hand to anything – he painted designs on motorcycle tanks, made beautiful wood creations. His most loved pastime was working on cars – he built his own vintage auto and entered it in

many of the Classic Car Shows. He always loved to keep busy, most days working in his garage. He kept very fit by walking two hours

every day, no matter what the weather. Gary worked at CAMCO for 35 years until his retirement at the age of 60. Gary is survived by the love of his life Patricia (Mann) Slade married for 56 years. He has two children, his son

Jordan (Laine) Slade of St Catharines, Ont., and a daughter, Wendy (Mark)

Tripp of Hamilton, Ontario. Gary was blessed to have three adorable grandchildren – Kaitlin, Kora and Kristian Slade whom he loved so much. Gary is survived by his two siblings, a brother,

Howard (Patsy} Slade of Sydney, and a sister, Valerie

(Gerard) LeBlanc of Sydney. He is also survived by one nephew, Mark {Joanne} Slade of Hammonds Plains, Halifax N.S. and two nieces

Note to Gary I can’t believe I’ll never see you again. I’ll never be able to hug you. I’ll never hear your sweet voice again. Never share our lobster feeds. I already miss you so much. I love you Gary. I hope you’re at peace Big Brother. ~ Valerie
