DOUGLAS, David Thomas

Bras d’Or

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Thomas Douglas, on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the age of 66, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle with lung disease, with his wife Brenda and family

by his side. Born in Sydney on June 28, 1956, he was the son of the late Curtis and Henrietta (Williams)

Douglas. David recently retired as a Stevedore from

Marine Atlantic after 15 years of service. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather, it was evident to everyone who knew him, that his girls and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He had a dry sense of humour and was able to make light of the toughest situations, always putting people at ease with his calming nature. He had a passion for cars and really, anything with wheels. David is survived by wife, Brenda Douglas (Scott) and his three daughters: Amanda, Ashley, and Sarah; his two grandchildren, Emma and Evan Drake, Halifax; his

siblings, Larry (Joan), Brian (Lisa), Steve (Cathie), Frank (Sandy), Janice (Mike) McKearney, and Dennis (Susan). Also, brothers-inlaw, Jack Scott and Glen Paul; sisters-in-law, Nancy

Theriault and Ellen Scott, as well as many nieces and nephews and long-time friend David Oakley. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his brother Curtis; his brother-in-law Wayne Scott; his sisters-inlaw Anne Paul, and Lynn Douglas. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Poulos for years of care, the EMT, the VON, and the all the staff

of Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their excellent treatment and compassion. A visitation for David will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., on

Saturday, August 13, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Memorial donations can be made in David’s honor to the Lung Association or a charity of choice. Online condolences may be left for the family by posting on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
