INVERNESS — Joel Plaskett Emergency will perform at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts on Friday as part of the centre’s Sunset Series. From rocking Halifax’s Marquee Club with The Emergency to performing at the Massey Hall or touring Canada with his father, Plaskett is known for being an engaging performer.

The band’s original lineup of Plaskett on guitar, Dave Marsh on drums and Inverness’s own Tim Brennan on bass will revisit their 2001 album Down at the Khyber.

Recorded in 2000 on the top floor of Halifax’s historic Khyber Building, the album launched the band onto the national stage, garnering a Juno nomination and critical acclaim in the UK press and beyond.

“Dave Marsh, Tim and I, recorded Down at the Khyber together over 20 years ago, and the songs are full of memories of travelling the country together,” said Plaskett.

“It will be great fun to revisit them in Inverness.”

Carmen Townsend will open the show at 7 p.m.
