Trafficking charges dismissed

ESKASONI — While drug trafficking charges were dismissed, an Eskasoni man still has three more scheduled trials.

Leon Alex, 59, was scheduled to stand trial on two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Prior to the start of the trial, the Crown informed the court it would not be proceeding and the charges were dismissed.

Alex is now scheduled to stand trial Sept. 2 on a single count of impaired driving.

Another trial is set for Sept. 16 on another count of impaired driving.

A third trial is set for Sept. 19 on single counts of impaired driving and evading police.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in 2021.

Alex continues his release on conditions.
