Accused to stand trial on murder charge

SYDNEY — A 39-year-old Florence man charged with second-degree murder is now expected to receive a Supreme Court trial date in July.

John Patrick White, 39, is charged in connection with the death of Robert T. (Robbie) Bradley, 60, of North Sydney, on Sept. 3, 2020.

White was committed to trial after a preliminary hearing. A publication ban prohibits reporting of the evidence presented at the preliminary.

White is now scheduled to receive a trial date on July 13.

Meanwhile, a second accused, Stephen Michael Bishop, 41, of North Sydney, was previously assigned a Supreme Court trial date. The trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 31 and continue until Nov. 24.

Police responded to a call of an assault at a Brook Street, North Sydney, residence where Bradley was found deceased. Both accused continue to be on remand and are to have no contact with 34 people.

Both accused also face a single count of robbery alleged to have occurred at the same time as the murder offence.
