Highland Arts Theatre prepares for holiday shows

SYDNEY — The Highland Arts Theatre in Sydney is set for a December packed with holiday-themed shows.

In a release, the theatre announced it is preparing for its popular 40-person production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol in the theatre's first full-crew production since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show will take place from Dec. 7-12 at 7:30 p.m.

On Dec. 2, Dave Gunning and J.P. Cormier will perform A Gunning and Cormier Christmas Show at 7:30 p.m. The show will combine new and old songs plus fan favourites into a one-of-a-kind performance.

On Dec. 15, P.E.I.-born award-winning singer and songwriter Lennie Gallant will take the stage to showcase his newest album and show titled the Innkeeper's Christmas starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Dec. 18, at 7:30 p.m., Port Cities: Home for Christmas will play at the theatre.

A Christmas movie series will round out the December shows with the Sound of Music: Sing-Along on Dec. 17, White Christmas: SingAlong on Dec. 19, Scrooge on Dec. 21, Miracle on 34th Street on Dec. 22 and it's a Wonderful Life on Dec. 23.
