SYDNEY — The Cape Breton West Islanders posted a key victory in Nova Scotia Under18 Major Hockey League action on Sunday in Bridgewater.

Cape Breton West (5-9-00) downed the South Shore Mustangs (2-13-0-0) 7-3 at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.

Riley Sampson had a threepoint performance, which included two goals, while Tully Grant had four points including a goal. Logan McGrath, Leo MacLean, Jacob Cook and Jack MacDonald added single markers.

Camden MacKenzie, Brennan Coleman and Sam Hope replied with goals for the

Mustangs.

Cape Breton West's Jack Milner made 19 saves. South Shore's Drew Hutchison

stopped 31 of 38 shots.

Meanwhile, the Rush (78-1-0) were doubled 4-2 by the Steele Subaru Majors of Dartmouth (9-3-2-0) at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre on Sunday.

Andrew Lordon, Luke Foster,

Blake Pilgram-Edwards and Tristan LeBlanc each scored goals for the Majors.

Riley Seymour and Alexander Christmas replied with goals for the Rush.

Burke stopped 24 of 28 shots.

The Rush will host the Halifax McDonalds in a pair of games next weekend.

The teams will meet Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. in Membertou.

As for the Islanders, the team will be on the road next weekend.

They will play Steele Subaru on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. in Dartmouth, before facing Cole Harbour on Sunday at 11:15 a.m.
