BEC, Memorial claim road victories in high school play

SYDNEY — The Memorial Marauders and Breton Education Centre Bears captured Cape Breton High School Soccer League road victories on Tuesday.

In girls’ junior varsity play, Ivy MacMullin scored all three goals to lead the Marauders 3-1 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats at Open Hearth Park in Sydney.

Sam Canova had the lone goal for the Wildcats in the contest.

Meanwhile, in boys’ action, the Bears downed the Memorial Marauders 12-1 at Memorial High School Field in Sydney Mines.

Tyler Grant scored four times, while Ethan MacNeil had three goals, and Morgan Hillier chipped in with a pair of markers. Owen Cashen, Jacob Fraser, and Tyson Crosby added single goals for the Bears.

Kale Grant had the lone goal for the Marauders.

Cape Breton High School Soccer League action continues Wednesday.

In girls’ action, Riverview will play Glace Bay at 5:15 p.m. at Open Hearth Park in Sydney.

Meanwhile, in boys’ action, Breton Education Centre will host Riverview at 7:45 p.m. at MacKinnon Memorial Field in New Waterford, and Riverview JV will play Glace Bay at 9 p.m. at Open Hearth Park.
