Sea glass hunting event raising funds for local charities

SYDNEY MINES — Avid treasure hunters can participate in a sea glass gathering event to support two local charities.

A press release from Holy Family Parish says the Sea Glass for Good event will be led by Cynthia Bond, owner of Salt Mist Cottage.

After gathering beach treasures, participants will go to Holy Family Parish Hall to make a sea glass project called Message in a Bottle with a guest host.

The proceedings from the event will go to two charities.

The first charity is the Atlantic Memorial Park Society, which draws attention to the role shorelines provided in protecting Cape Bretoners during the Second World War.

The second is Holy Family Parish which aims to embrace community-building events.

This event will be held on July 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. and will cost $25 per person. Participants will be meeting at a local beach.

Interested individuals can email Holy Family Parish at holyfamilysydneymines2013@ gmail.com or call 902 736-833 for more details.
