Accused sentenced on multiple offences

SYDNEY — A North Sydney man has been sentenced on a host of offences including assault with a weapon.

Stephen Michael Bishop, 40, was also sentenced on 16 counts of breaching court orders and single counts of resisting arrest, causing a disturbance, theft and mischief.

Bishop was credited with serving 382 days on remand and sentenced to serve one day in jail served by presence in court. He is now to complete a two-year probation period.

Among the conditions of his probation, Bishop is to stay away from all liquor stores in Cape Breton along with other retail stores, including Canadian Tire in North Sydney.

He is to refrain from alcohol and drugs not prescribed him and is to pay $1,000 in restitution to Canadian Tire.
