SYDNEY — Two Sydney men appeared in Sydney Provincial Court Friday on drug charges in conjunction with an investigation in which Cape Breton Regional Police seized $200,000 worth of drugs Thursday evening.

During a brief court appearance by Keith Cordell Anderson, 43, on Friday, the crown requested an adjournment of the proceedings. Anderson was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre pending a bail hearing Monday.

Anderson is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking in morphine, oxycodone, hydromorphone and amphetamine, as well as possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a prohibited weapon, and several breaches of previous court-ordered conditions.

Jarvis S. Lucas, 54, charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, also made a brief court appearance Friday.

Lucas was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled back in provincial court July 9 for plea.

On Thursday, members of the Cape Breton Regional Police Street Crime unit executed search warrants under the controlled drugs and substances act at residences on Rotary Drive and Rockcliffe Crescent on Thursday evening.

Police located and seized one kilogram of pure cocaine, numerous prescription pills including Percocet, amphetamine, hydromorphone, gabapentin and morphine and several thousand dollars cash.
