Obituaries

Age 74, Eastern Passage, formerly of Kentville passed away November 14, 2023, after a difficult and courageous battle with COPD and Dementia. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Georgie (Berry) Aldred. Susan was an active independent woman who loved life. Over the years she worked tirelessly to provide for her children and there is nothing she would or could not do. In her younger years she worked at Hines Pharmacy in Kingston, and also doing seamstress work from home until the wee hours of the morning. She later returned to school while working at Zellers in Kentville, this led to a position with H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, and then later transitioned to MTT until her retirement. She was a very proud mother, grandmother and friend. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and furr babies. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Sam Archibald), Cole Harbour; daughter, Charlene, Wilmot; grandsons, Aaron Veinotte, Wilmot, Matthew Lutz, Leduc, AB, Mitchel (Madison) Lutz, Sylvan Lake, AB; sisters, Janice Cunningham, North Kingston, Christine (Lonnie) Sawler, Wilmot; Geraldine (Donnalea Urquhart) Aldred, Toronto; brothers, Jeffrey (Sue) Aldred; Wilmot; Michael Aldred, Moncton; Rick (Gail) Aldred, Melvern Square; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Laurie Aldred; nephew Jamie Prall; furr baby companion Smudgy. A very special thank you is extended to her caring friends and neighbors who kept an eye on her as she struggled to keep her independence. Thank you does not seem like enough. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life with be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 9th, from Middleton Funeral Home. Reception to follow. Interment in North Kingston Cemetery. Rev. James Haughn officiating.
