Cape Breton teams eliminated in Monctonian AAA Challenge

MONCTON, N.B. — Two Cape Breton Nova Scotia Under-18 Major Hockey League teams were eliminated from the Monctonian AAA Challenge over the weekend. The Sydney Mitsubishi Rush and Cape Breton West Islanders both took part in the tournament, which features teams from from Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada. On Friday, the Islanders defeated the Newfoundland and Labrador-based Central Impact 4-2. Jack Hayne led the Islanders with a goal and two assists while Owen Chisholm and Owen Bell each had a goal and an assist. Carlin Samson also scored for Cape Breton West. Joey Greene had a goal and an assist for the Impact. Noah Hardy scored the other Impact goal, while Grayson Pardy had two assists. Rhyah Stewart had the win in nets for the Islanders while Jayden Lynch took the loss. On Saturday, the Islanders lost 4-1 to the Charlottetown Knights. Game details were not available. The Rush were blanked 4-0 by the Central Ontario Wolves on Friday. Luke Kemp, Seth Goble, Dylan Leslie and Reese Walker scored for the Wolves. while Jacob Walsh had the shutout win. Rush goaltender Johnathan Coombs shouldered the loss. On Saturday, the Rush were defeated by the Moncton Flyers. Details of this game were not available.
