Connor Ross

Who – A 23-year-old Coldbrook native who has played four seasons with the St. F.X. X-Men football team.

The latest – The Ottawa Redblacks drafted Ross in the seventh round (58th overall) earlier this month. Ross is in Ottawa attending the team’s rookie camp.

Did you know? Ross played for the under-18 national team in Orlando, Fla., in the 2017 International Bowl Series.

Family connection – Ross’s X-Men teammate Gregor MacKellar was drafted sixth overall by the Toronto Argonauts. MacKellar’s girlfriend is Maddy Ross, a scrum-half with the XWomen rugby team and Connor’s sister.

Eligibility – Ross, a human kinetics student, still has a year of eligibility remaining at St. F.X. and attending CFL camps does not impact his eligibility.

Important dates – CFL rookie camps open on Wednesday, May 11, and CFL rosters need to be reduced to 85 players by Saturday, May 14. Training camps officially open on Sunday, May 15, and teams need to reduce rosters to 75 players by Tuesday, May 17. Training camps end on Saturday, June 4 with the regular season beginning on Thursday, June 9.
