It was a tough weekend for the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles as the team dropped a pair of road games. On Saturday, the team lost 4-1 to the Sackville Blazers at the Sackville Arena. Degen Noble, Logan Mitchell, Bailey Conrad and Jaden Hardie accounted for the Blazers’ offence while James Jobes scored the lone Eagles goal. Thomas Gariepy stopped 32 of 33 to earn the win while the Blazers chased Eagles starting netminder Andrew Burke who allowed three goals on 14 shots midway through the first in the loss before relieved by Patrick Hinchey who turned aside 35 of 36 pucks sent his way. On Friday, the Eagles dropped a 4-1 decision to the Capstone Colts in Shearwater. Two first-period goals from Capstone’s Jackson Murphy set the tone in Shearwater while Trayner McCulloch had a goal and assist and Connor Stewart also found the back of the net. Keagan Geizer was Eskasoni’s goal scorer. Joshua McCarther was the winning goalie for the Colts, posting 24 saves. Burke was busy in the Eagles’ crease, stopping an impressive 47 shots despite the loss.
