Pictou County Scotians double Blues

TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians spotted the Cumberland County Blues a 2-1 first period lead in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League play in Trenton before scoring five goals in the second period and two more in the third to beat the visitors 8-4.

Ryan Frizzle’s hat trick and one assist led the Pictou County offence. Jack Tompkins had a goal and two assists while Calem McAndrew picked up three helpers. Single goals were fired by Ryan Green (who also had an assist), Jayden Hatchard, Nate Supryka and Cale MacLaughlin.

Jack Cameron made 19 saves for the win.

Pictou County fired 52 shots at Cumberland netminder Aiden MacAleaseJay.

Tate O’Reilly, Aidan McBurnie, Burke Beed and Daniel MacKenzie scored for the Blues.

The win improves the Scotians’ record to 7-3-0-0. They are just one point behind Port Hawkesbury for second place in the Sid Rowe Division.

Pictou County has a busy weekend coming up with three games in three nights. They play in Amherst on Friday, Nov. 25, travel to Membertou to face the Jr. Miners on Saturday, Nov. 26 and then are back home in Trenton, on Sunday, Nov. 27 for a return matchup with the Jr. Miners at 6 p.m.
