BOLLIVAR, Nancy Joan

Age 59, of Branch Lahave, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. “It is with a broken heart that I go peacefully on this day, November 16, with Mike, my loving husband and soul mate, holding my hand to the end and who will forever be by my side” ~Nancy

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce Nancy’s passing after a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy faced her illness with grace and dignity and despite the many challenges that came her way, she never lost her positive outlook on life and remained hopeful despite everything she faced. Her strength and determination inspired all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those she touched.

Nancy and Mike shared the love of travel, which took them to many places across the United States and Canada. Many trips often included a Nascar race along the way or a hockey tournament for Mike. A couple of highlights she often mentioned were their trips to the Grand Canyon on their 10th anniversary and more recently a beautiful trip to British Columbia and Alberta where she conquered one of her fears of going across the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Nancy was a force to be reckoned with when she walked into a room, filling it with light, love and lots of laughter. She always had a smile on her face and was known for her kind heart and her unwavering commitment to her friends and family. Her generosity touched the lives of countless people and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born in Amherst on August 29, 1964, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Eric and Jeanette Ruth (Hedley) Gallant. After graduating from Amherst Regional High School, she went on to study at the Dartmouth Vocational School (1985) where she earned an Accounting Diploma. She began her career with the Halifax Infirmary Hospital in Accounts Receivable (1985-90) and then with Sobeys in an Administrative Assistant role (1990-94). After meeting Mike and moving to Bridgewater, she worked at Bridgewater Vision for a short period before moving to CIBC where she remained for 20 years. Nancy took great pride and joy in her various roles at the bank, made numerous friends and enjoyed the many clients she worked with over the years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and the love of her life of 30 years, Michael (Mike) Earle Bollivar; stepsons, Matt Bollivar (Stacy), Michael Bollivar; step grandchildren, Payton, Jaxson, Jayden and Justin; brother, Eric (Shelley) Gallant, Oakville, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Tommy (Ivy) Bollivar and Jeff (Shelley) Bollivar; sister-in-law, Jill (Damien) Bollivar; father and mother in-law, Earle and Dorothy (Tippy) Bollivar, Lower Branch; as well as nieces and nephews, Meaghan, Adam, David Gallant, Brandon (Ashley), Jordan, Kristie (Matt), Jaron (Tiffany) and Jlyn. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends who have been a constant and tremendous support through this time. A special mention of her sweet, rambunctious Jake, who will miss her dearly.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, November 23 from 6-8 p.m., in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater.

A celebration of Nancy’s beautiful life will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, November 24 in the Best Western Plus, Bridgewater, Rev. Paul Jensen officiating, with a reception to follow.
