BROOMHEAD (Mcmillen), Leigh Kathryn

November 21, 1955 - November 15, 2023. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Leigh passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, November 15th, in Halifax at the age of 67 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Jonathan; children, Jennifer Mizzi (husband James and son Elijah), and Jillian Paddock (Tylor); siblings, Tony Mcmillen (Roxanne) and Glynis Mullen; and her large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Leigh will also be dearly missed by all her beloved friends. Leigh was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Catherine Mcmillen (Pattison); her sister, Kathleen Schooten (Mcmillen); and brother, Kris Mcmillen. Leigh will be remembered as a deep and caring person with many gifts and interests. In her quiet moments, Leigh loved to write letters to friends and family, work in her garden or study her Bible. When she was with others she enjoyed meaningful conversation, laughing, or dreaming about the future. Most of all, she wanted to spend time with those who mattered to her most, her friends, family and pets. Leigh's life can best be encapsulated by three words: Faith, Friends, and Family. Faith: Leigh was a passionate and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She would freely share scriptures, books, and prayers with people in need. Her faith in Jesus Christ made her a woman of light and love to anyone who met her. Friends: Leigh's friendships encompassed all aspects of life; each was special to her. Whether it was a quick coffee, a lunch, or a fun outing, Leigh loved nothing more than to spend time with her friends in deep conversations filled with laughter and genuine caring. Family: From the time that she was a little girl, Leigh’s goal was to become a wife and a mother. After having and raising two daughters of her own, Leigh’s love of children moved her to seek employment as a nanny. The children that Leigh cared for she loved like her own. Finally, one of her greatest joys and blessings came when her grandchild, Elijah, was born. When she held him for the first time, her heart was filled. At Leigh's request, no service will be held; however, the family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassion and care that the members of Emergency Health Services (EHS) demonstrated in Leigh’s final days. Cremation has already taken place.
