Digital Nova Scotia to develop tech programs for women, youth

HALIFAX, N.S. — Digital Nova Scotia is getting nearly $350,000 in federal money to create new programs aimed at improving access to tech resources and education for women, youth and small businesses.

The funding package will help Digital Nova Scotia deliver five new programs over two years. Those programs include Digital Skills for Women, Digital Discovery Camp, Ask an Expert, Digital Skills and Capacity Building and Recognizing Impact in the Tech Sector.

The programs will have in-person and online components, a release from the federal government said.

Digital Nova Scotia is a non-profit technology industry organization that offers training, skills development, industry events, mentorship, networking and other programs.

Wayne Sumarah, CEO of Digital Nova Scotia, said the programs will help the organization expose youth to careers in technology and support a diverse and inclusive workforce.
