Peter's Boyles court appearance was adjourned on Jan. 10 to give him time to find a new lawyer.

His previous lawyer Craig Clarke’s had filed an application of withdrawal as solicitor of record which was granted in Pictou Provincial Court on Jan. 10.

Boyles, who is a a councillor for the Municipality of Pictou County and Clarke were both present via telephone as Clark explained that upon viewing the disclosure, it became apparent that he has several conflicts of interest, leading him to withdraw.

The matter was adjourned until Feb. 8 of this year to give Boyles time to find new lawyer.

During a Nov. 8 court appearance, Clarke had requested the Jan. 10 date in order to review the case’s disclosure, which is over 500 pages.

Boyles was charged with 24 offences under the Municipal Election Act in August of 2021.

The offences are alleged to have happened in the Trenton election in which Boyle's half-brother Don Hussher was running for mayor.

Hussher won the mayor’s race in Trenton over incumbent Shannon MacInnis with 666 votes to MacInnis’ 604. MacInnis did not contest the election at the time.
