Summerside Community Choir returning following two-year hiatus

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside Community Choir is doubling in size and returning for a new season of singing following a two-year hiatus.

There’s a lot of excitement for the choir this year due to the appointment of new director Krista Bryson, said Summerside Community Choir president Judy Logan.

Logan said that Bryson, the music director at Three Oaks High School, brings years of experience as a music instructor to the Summerside choir along with a new program.

“Krista’s affiliation with the school has allowed us to practice in their state-of-the-art theatre space,” said Logan.

“Along with an influx of returning members and

Three Oaks music students, the choir numbers have doubled this year, with singers of all abilities and ages 15 to 80-plus.”

Bryson said her vision for the choir is a welcoming, inclusive, multi-generation ensemble.

“This large ensemble enjoys the wealth of musical experience from many members while also welcoming members who have not ever formally participated in choral singing.”

The choir is planning its first public performance on Dec. 18 and will welcome new members in January.
