RCMP investigating Yarmouth County incident

RCMP in Yarmouth are investigating an incident that occurred on March 5 in Yarmouth County.

On that day at approximately 4 a.m., Yarmouth Rural RCMP responded to a report of a possible home invasion at a residence on the Melbourne Road in Melbourne, Yarmouth

County.

The RCMP said upon arrival they learned that the incident had occurred around 2 a.m. The victim had delayed reporting it, they said.

“The victim advised that two men had forced their way into the home and had discharged a firearm,” said

RCMP Cpl. Chris Marshall. “The men then left after stealing one bottle of liquor and a small amount of cash.”

He said the male victim could not provide any details or information related to the two men, i.e., if they drove a vehicle, etc.

There are reports that the victim did sustain an injury during the incident, but not from the discharging of the firearm.

As of the morning of March 13, the RCMP had not issued a media release about the incident but said they are continuing to investigate the matter.
