Byelection in District 3 set for January

District 3 residents will elect a new councillor in January to represent them on Annapolis County council.

Alan Parish submitted his resignation on Nov. 9. He had served the residents since being elected in the 2020 municipal vote. He was then elected warden by his peers.

“It has been my honour to serve the residents of District 3 as their councillor and to serve the residents of the county as their warden,” Parish wrote in his resignation letter. Municipal clerk Carolyn Young has been appointed the byelection’s returning officer. There will be no inperson voting. The byelection will take place via phone or online voting between Jan. 15 and 28. Nomination day has been set for Jan. 3.

The municipality will contract Intellivote, which does not require any polling stations, equipment rentals or workers.

The new councillor will be sworn in Feb. 13.
