No inquiry the right call

Bravo David Johnston for advising against a public inquiry into Chinese interference in 2019 elections and beyond.

Of course there is Chinese interference, not only in Canadian election processes and people, but into other country’s politics as well. And to reveal the specifics of that would be impossible due to the need to protect Canada’s security systems, as has been said.

A costly inquiry with indeterminate dates, participants and processes will serve absolutely no one in the final analysis, except the Chinese who are looking on gleefully while our political parties argue and dither the days away.

It’s a distraction no one needs in the glaring lack of remedy for Canada’s healthcare system, affordable housing options and overtaxation, to name a few.
