Home destroyed by fire

Firefighters from six departments respond to June 26 blaze in North Kingston

No one was home when a house in North Kingston was destroyed by fire on June 26.

Firefighters were called to the Brooklyn Street bungalow around 11:30 p.m. after a neighbour had noticed the fire and reported it.

The wood-structure home was “fully involved when we arrived on scene,” Chief Watson Armstrong said.

About 25 firefighters fought the fire from the outside.

They were on scene for about five hours. Kingston received mutual aid from Lawrencetown, Middleton, Nictaux, Aylesford and Berwick.

The home’s interior walls, floors and ceilings were destroyed by fire.

“It’s damaged beyond repair,” Watson said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not suspicious.

The residents arrived on scene as firefighters were fighting the fire. The Canadian Red Cross is providing support to the adult couple with emergency lodging, food and clothing purchases, and some other support.

The home was insured.
