WE WERE HEARD BY THE PREMIER

The announcement of May 5 that the non-resident property tax had been rescinded was a victory for “the voice of the people.”

It reaffirms the importance of the free press in the proper functioning of democratic governance. There was a sigh of relief, audible across the province.

Kudos must be given to Premier Houston for showing strength in stepping back from a financial bill that he believed to be beneficial for Nova Scotia. He heard the voice of Nova Scotians, he listened and acted accordingly.
