Acadia held quarter leads of 26-12, 43-16 and 61-33 en route to an 81-38 victory. Elizabeth Iseyemi led the home side with 23 points and nine rebounds while Jayda Veinot had 15 points and five rebounds and Samantha Russell 11 points and nine boards. Acadia, which concluded the pre-season 4-1, opens the regular season Oct. 29 by hosting Saint Mary’s at 6 p.m.

Deakin-Poot’s first university point was a big one as the rookie forward from Georgetown, Ont., stole a pass midway through the second period and beat Moncton goalie Emile Samson for a shorthanded goal that stood up as the winner as Acadia won 3-2. It also made a winner out of Max Paddock, who made 29 saves to win his debut for the Axemen. Samson stopped 28 shots in the loss. Maurizio Colella and Adam McMaster also scored for the host Axemen. Eric Henderson, Mason McCarty, Garrett McFadden and Peyton Hoyt drew assists.
