CORRECTION

On page A04 of the July 15 edition of the Annapolis Valley Register, in the story entitled ‘Bridgetown’s chimney swifts have returned,’ there were two inaccuracies. Maggie Rice, who has been monitoring the chimney swift activity and recorded a high count on May 30, saw 1,100 birds, not 11,000. Additionally, she mentioned she also had taken an interest in another insectivore. It was the common nighthawk, not the black nighthawk as was mentioned in the story. The common nighthawk’s population numbers have decreased considerably over the last 50 years, but it’s not listed as an endangered species. The Register apologies for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.
