One person was airlifted to hospital and three others were injured after a car left the road and overturned in North Kingston on April 26.

RCMP say the car also struck a power pole in the crash just after 8 p.m. on Highway 221.

Cpl. Chris Marshall said two of the occupants had managed to get out of the vehicle before RCMP, Kingston firefighters and paramedics arrived.

One woman was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters, and a man was thrown from the car and found a short distance away.

All four people were taken to Valley Regional Hospital, and the man who was thrown was later airlifted to hospital in Halifax with injuries Marshall said injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening.

All the occupants were in their 20s, Marshall said.

He said what factors may have led to the collision are still under investigation. A collision reconstructionist was called to the scene, and the highway was closed down for several hours.
